Welcome to First Catch, a non-profit event dedicated and focused on providing an on ice, learning opportunity for young anglers! We focus on hands on instruction and seminars to help kids and their parents learn more about the sport. Our mission is to keep these opportunities available to those kids and their parents who want to take part.
First Catch is possible because of volunteers who are passionate about fishing. They all share the common goal of wanting to pass on knowledge and provide opportunities for kids to get out and fish. These folks do this on a volunteer basis and dedicate their time to work at making this event possible. They strive to get kids and their familes out and create a stronger family bond, as well as learn about the great sport of ice fishing.
All of us who fish, learned this past-time from a parent, relative, or friend, but there are many kids and families who would not have the chance to enjoy this sport if it were not for someone taking the time to pass on the knowledge and help them get started. This is where First Catch hopes to play a key role, on getting kids hooked on fishing and away from the TV. Finding something your child will enjoy and also be able to do as a family can be tough, but fishing is a sport where any kid can have fun. And having fun is a big part of First Catch!!
