First Catch| Welcome to First Catch, an organization dedicated and focused on providing opportunities for young anglers new to the sport of fishing! Well, It's that time of year again!...Time for First Catch to crawl out of hibernation and gear up for out biggest kids event yet. Last year we had over 240 kids hit the ice and experience the LARGEST KIDS ON ICE CLINIC IN NORTH AMERICA! Over half of them had never been ice fishing before. As Director of First Catch, I would like to personally thank our over 75 volunteers and parents who made this day possible. But that was last year...it's time to set our sights on something even bigger. This year we expect over 300 kids to join us on the ice once again to learn and experience this sport we are so passionate about. The date for this years event is being set as we speak, but the annual game feed and fundraiser is set for Sunday November 30th. Once again we will be having a chili and chislic feed at the American Legion in Tea, SD. And of course our raffles. This years rafle event is something you dont want to see. With over $3500 in products from our sponsors, and your chances at winning them coming at just $1 per raffle ticket. You pick the items you want to enter for. Last year we had 55 lots of prizes that included augers, shack, dozens of ice rods and reels, over 1000 ice jigs, tackle boxes, vacumn sealer, truck accessories, 75 bait pucks, a dozen multi rod storage bags, handheld sonar, man I can't even remember it all....we had many multiple winners also. Trust me, mark your calendar now. The money we raise goes towards the kids event. The costs of the event, all the rods and tackle we give away, insurance, food, etc....it all adds up. Because our sponsors donate these raffle items, we all benefit. Us, as volunteers and supporters, get to win all the cool stuff! The kids get new rods and reels to keep when they come to the kids event, they get free lunch, and hands on instruction for a great free day of fishing. Stay tuned for more info. See you on the ice!, Jeff Harding First Catch Director |
